Dear School Community,

In February 2010, the group of individuals identified on the acknowledgements page of this School Improvement Plan began a process that has resulted in the development and creation of the 2010-2011 School Improvement Plan for Mobile Elementary School. We express much appreciation to these individuals who met in a series of three meetings over a period of two months for the sole purpose of working together to improve teaching and learning at Mobile Elementary School.

The process of school improvement begins when people in the school want to become better. That is the direction being pursued with vigor and purpose. We are currently a “Highly Performing” school as defined by the Arizona AZ Learns statute.  While this is a commendable level of performance, we want to be better and firmly believe that we can improve to become an excelling school.

Our central focus is students and student learning. To achieve the highest levels of “Teaching for Learning for All,” we steadfastly and enthusiastically commit to the actions and strategies outlined in this School Improvement Plan. We request your support, involvement, and help.

We believe in the students, teachers, staff, and community of Mobile Elementary School. We anticipate the results and successes of our efforts and hope to engage you and your efforts as we journey into the realm of continuous school improvement.

Sincerely,

The Mobile Elementary School Improvement Team

Our Vision

Partnership in Learning for All.

Beliefs that Guide Us

  • All students can learn and achieve in a safe, disciplined environment in which they feel trust, support, and a sense of belonging.
  • High achievement requires the commitment, communication, and participation of staff students, family, and the community.
  • Teachers should create/design challenging and engaging activities to develop higher level thinking and problem solving.
  • Teachers continue professional development that directly impacts student achievement.
  • Cultural diversity will be embraced in an atmosphere of acceptance.
  • Fair and consistent discipline prepares students to become responsible citizens.
  • High standards and expectations must be maintained through systems of accountability for all students and staff.
  • A variety of teaching strategies, methods, and materials including the use of technology promote academic success for all students because children learn at different rates and in different ways.
  • All students need to be given frequent opportunities to think critically, make appropriate choices, and grow in their ability to express themselves in creative ways.
  • Schools should be organized to meet the needs and interests of all students.
  • Students who come to school prepared and ready to take an active role in their learning will increase academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Students learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful and challenging work which fosters a love of learning.
  • Students should gain knowledge, insight and skills that will enable them to achieve their full potential as adult member of society.
  • Schools should promote the health, safety, and welfare of all.
